 Then she came back to Paddy. 然后她回到了培迪那里。

Christmas, she said, "is more than holly¹ and evergreen² trees. It is more than getting presents, too. 她说：圣诞节不仅仅只是冬青树和常青树，也不仅仅是收收礼物。

It is giving something to someone else and making him happy as well as yourself." 圣诞节是给予别人什么东西，让别人和自己一样高兴。

Then all the grown-up³ bears went back to sleep. 接着成年大熊们又回去睡觉了。

At once Paddy went back to the woods. 培迪立刻返回了森林。

First he looked all around until he found a good stick for his father to use when he climbed around the mountains. 首先，他看了看周围，给他的爸爸找到了一根好用的棍子，爸爸爬山时可以用。

Next he hunted until he found a whole pawful of nuts for Uncle Bear, and some bright feathers for Aunt Bear. 接着，他找啊找，为他的叔叔找到了满满一手的坚果，为他的阿姨找到了一些鲜艳的羽毛。

For his mother he cut some branches and made them into a broom⁴ with which she could sweep out the dark cave. 至于他的妈妈，他砍了一些树枝，把它们做成了一个扫帚，这样他的妈妈就可以用来清扫漆黑的山洞了。

All these things Paddy took back to the cave, and, for the last time, he waked his father and his mother and his uncle and his aunt. 培迪把这些东西拿回了山洞，他最后一次叫醒了爸爸、妈妈和叔叔、阿姨。

He gave them their presents and then laughed and rolled about when he saw how pleased they all were. 他把这些礼物交给了他们，见他们都很高兴，他高兴得又笑又打滚。

"Merry Christmas," he cried. 他大声说道：圣诞快乐。

And Paddy Bear knew that it was really merry, for it made him feel good from the inside out. 小熊培迪知道了这才是真正的快乐，因为他由内而外地感觉到了。
