 The little elephant, squealing¹ for all he was worth, pulled and pulled, until it seemed that his trunk would come off, 小象拼命地尖叫着，不停地拉呀拉呀，直到它的鼻子好像要掉下来似的。

Now he wrapped his trunk about the hind⁵ legs of his friend and pulled with all his strength, and suddenly the two elephants began to go backward and with them, drawn⁶ against its braced⁷ feet, showed the head and body of a long and powerful crocodile. 这时，他把鼻子缠在朋友的后腿上，突然，两只大象开始往回走，它们被拉到支撑着的脚边，露出了一条长而有力的鳄鱼的头和身体。
