　　The placenta is what keeps the calf¹ alive during pregnancy². Directly connected to the mother's blood supply, it funnels⁴ nutrients⁶ and oxygen straight into the calf's body via the umbilical cord, and also exports its waste.

　　胎盘能维持幼子得以在怀孕的雌体内生存，与母亲的血液供应直接相连，透过脐带，运送养分与氧气直接到幼子的身体，并且同时排出体内代谢废物。
