Chapter 117 The Whale Watch 第一百十七章 看守大鲸

The four whales slain⁴ that evening had died wide apart; one, far to windward; one less distant, to leeward⁵; one ahead; one astern. 那天黄昏时分所打的四条鲸，都彼此相隔很远地死了；一条远在上风的地方；一条稍微近些，在下风地方；一条在前边；一条在后边。

These last three were brought alongside ere nightfall; but the windward one could not be reached till morning; 除了上风处那一条要到明天早晨才能把它弄来以外，其余三条都在傍晚前就给拖到舷侧来了；
