 　　LESSON 65 THE SUN 第六十五课 太阳

　　Get up, little boy. Get up at once, I say. How long do you mean to lie there? 起床了，小男孩。立刻起床，我说到。你打算在那躺多久？

　　I have been trying for a long time to look in at your bed-room window; but I could only peep¹ in at the edge² of the blind. 我尝试了很长时间透过你卧室的窗户向里看，但是我只能透过百叶窗的边缘偷偷地看

　　I want to say “Good morning!” and to show you some of the pretty things you may see about you. 我想跟你说声早安！并且给你看一些关于你的小东西。

　　At the bottom of the garden, in the bed of flowers, there are some nice buds³ just opening. 在花园的底部，在花丛下，好看的花蕾正在开放。

　　In the tree at the end of the house there is a nest in which there are four pretty young birds. 在房子最后边的树上，有一个呆着四只可爱小鸟的鸟窝

　　On the grass under the trees in the park there are six little snow-white lambs at play. 在公园树下的草地里，有六只可爱，雪白的小羊羔在玩耍

　　All were glad to see me when I bade⁴ them good morning, for they could not do without me. 我给他们道早安，他们都很高兴，他们不能没有我。

　　If I did not come, the buds would not open, and the little birds and lambs would die of cold. 如果我不来，花蕾不会绽放，小鸟和小羊羔将会死于冬日的寒冷。

　　But the little boy did not move until the sun had found a hole in the blind, through which it sent its rays right down on his face. 但是小男孩直到太阳射过百叶窗照在他的脸上，才开始动下身子。

　　Then he sprang out of bed, rubbed his eyes, and dressed himself, thinking he was very late. 小男孩从床上跳起，揉了揉眼，穿好衣服，估摸着要迟到了。

　　But he was still quite early. So he ran out to look at the bright, warm sun, and to bid⁵ it good morning. 但他还是非常早。所以他跑出去看看光明的,温暖的阳光,并去问候它们，早上好。

　　Then he looked into the nest and saw the little birds. He looked into the park, too, where the lambs were yet at play. 他看了看鸟窝，找到了小鸟。他看了看公园，小羊羔还在玩耍

　　But the flowers pleased him best of all, and he gathered a pretty bunch⁶ to give to his mother. 但是花朵最让他赏心悦目，他采了一束送给他的妈妈。

1 peep   

n.瞥见，偷看，初现；v.窥视，慢慢露出，吱吱叫

2 edge   

n.边(缘)；刃；优势；v.侧着移动，徐徐移动

3 buds   

芽( bud的名词复数 )； 苞； 半开的花； 未长大的叶

参考例句：

4 bade   

v.出价，投标( bid的过去式 )；恳求；命令；说（问候话）

5 bid

6 bunch   

n.串，束；群，帮

参考例句：

• A bunch of girls was[were] sitting on the grass.一群女孩坐在草地上。
