               Notes

    Pollution means contamination of the environment as a result of the
activities of man. The term pollution refers primarily to the fouling⁵
of air, water, and land by wastes. In recent years, it has come to
signify a wider range of disruptions to environmental quality. And
people are more and more concerned with "visual pollution," "air
pollution," "noise pollution," "thermal⁶ pollution" and so on.

1 barometer
