Business Matters: A new era for U.S-Japan relations? 2 May 15
Sat, 2 May 15
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe continues his visit to California, in what could mark a new dawn for U.S and Japanese relations. We speak to Professor Takeo Hoshi the Director of the Japan Programme at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford and Congressman1 Mike Honda, the US Representative for California's 17th District, also known as Silicon2 Valley. Following the catastrophic earthquake in the Nepal six days ago, the country's Finance Minister talks to the BBC about the non-appearance of foreign funds. Also in the programme, are delegates or second-in-commands more influential3 than their bosses? Richard Hytner, Deputy Worldwide Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi discusses the rise of the number two. We also hear from the Managing Director of Rent the Runway, a company that offers designer clothing as short-term rentals4 to its customers. Joining us throughout the programme is Robert Milliken of The Economist5 news magazine in Sydney.
