Chen Xiaolin, 27, quit her job as an accountant in a PR company in Shanghai at the end of last month. She didn’t have another job lined up.

She simply couldn’t stay working in that office any longer. “I hated my job so much that I even cried sometimes in the morning before going to work,” said Chen.

Chen now plans to take up some professional courses before she finds a new job. She has savings1 which can support her for the next six months.

Chen is not alone in leaving a job before lining2 up a new one. What job analysts3 call “naked” resignation4 is now a growing trend among young people, according to a recent survey co-conducted by Globe magazine and Sohu.com.

More than 43 percent of the 8,064 respondents quit their jobs before finding5 new ones or were thinking about doing that.
在8064位受访者中，有超过43%的人裸辞，或者正在考虑裸辞。
More than half of those people said the main reason for doing so was because they got no satisfaction or happiness from their job.

Su Lin, 26, used to work as a software engineer at Tencent Holdings Limited in Shenzhen. He left his job at the end of last September and spent a whole month traveling in Xinjiang and Sichuan.

“I want to enjoy my life rather than work overtime6 nonstop,” said Su. “It is necessary for me to take some time to relax and remove negative energy from my body.”
苏琳表示：“相对于无止境的加班，我更想去享受生活。我得花些时间去放松自己，把身体的负面能量甩掉。”
The phenomenon of “naked” resignation shows the younger generation downplays the importance of payment7 or job security8 and pays more attention to happiness in work, said analysts.
分析人士认为，裸辞现象显示出年轻一代对薪酬以及工作保障的重视程度正在减轻，他们如今更关心自己工作得快乐与否。
“It is a brave and wise move. Nothing is more important than your health and happiness,” said Feng Lijuan, a chief HR expert at 51job.com.
来自前程无忧网的首席人力资源专家冯丽娟（音译）表示：“这是勇敢的明智之举。没有什么比你的健康和快乐更加重要的了。”
Wang Kaiyu, a sociology9 professor from Anhui University, however, believes young people should take their jobs more seriously.
而来自安徽大学的社会学教授王开宇（音译）则认为，年轻应该更加慎重地看待自己的工作。
“Your work is where you do your bit for the big society. So you can’t leave it just because you don’t like it any more,” Wang said.
王开宇教授说：“你的工作是为了整个大社会贡献自己的点滴。所以你不能只是因为不再喜欢这份工作而选择辞职。”
Li Xin, general manager from Guangzhou branch of Zhaopin.com, also advises against leaving a job just because of the less pleasant side of it.
智联招聘网广州分公司总经理李欣（音译）也建议，最好不要只是因为工作不称心的一面而辞掉它。
“Some young people quit and take time to search for a perfect job,” said Li, “but there’s no such thing as perfect job.”
李欣称：“一些年轻人辞职后会花时间寻找一份完美的工作。但是世上根本就没有完美的工作这回事。”
