bet: used to say that you are fairly sure that something is true, something is happening etc, although you cannot prove this.断定；断言；有把握说
I bet that it will snow tomorrow.我敢说明天一定会下雪。

bet的基本意思是打赌，来看一下几个跟这个意思相关的表达：
accept (或take up) a bet 同意与别人打赌
an even bet 成败参半的机会，胜负机会相等的打赌；胜败机会相等

get no idea: don't know; have no idea; didn't have a clue不知道；没察觉；后面一般加同位语从句：

a dead cell phone: 手机没电；
手机快没电了可以这么说: My (cell) phone is dying³. 或者：My cellphone's battery gets/is low.
如果手机已经没电了: My (cell) phone is dead. 或者：My cell phone battery's dead.

shot gun seat: the seat next to the driver's副驾驶座位，跟The passenger seat一个意思
这种说法起源于美国西部历史，那时驾马车的人坐在右边，路上会经常有劫匪，所以，总要有一个人坐在左边副驾驶位置手里拿一杆枪，以防万一。从那以后，车的副驾驶位子是就叫做shotgun 了。

跟shotgun有关的还有一个词组，shotgun wedding，it refers to a wedding that is arranged to avoid embarrassment⁵ due to an unplanned pregnancy不得不举行的婚礼，或者，奉子成婚。
