Speaking on the possibility of human-to-human transmission, Dr. Zhong Nanshan, director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases, said there's still no evidence at the moment. He added, however, that the medical community should keep a close watch on the possibility of limited human transmission.

"If there’s human to human transmission, first there must be genetic¹ mutation². Second, it won’t be single cases but multiple cases occurring at the same time. Even though now we’re seeing neither of the two conditions, we can’t say there’s definitely no human-to-human transmission. There’s something called limited human to human transmission. That’s something we need to watch out for." Dr. Zhong said.
