2015年CRI 全新电脑和手机亮相台北电脑展

 

Dubbed¹ Asia's biggest tech trade show, this year's Computex event in Taipei is playing host to more than 17-hundred exhibitors.

Among them are two local computer firms ASUS and Acer.

ASUS has kicked off the five-day event by introducing its latest all-in-one PCs Zen AiO, which comes in two different screen sizes.

The company is also pushing its mobile devices.

ASUS' new "ZenFone Selfie" device features two 13-megapixel cameras on both the front and back.

The front camera has a 'panorama²' mode, allowing keen selfie snappers to capture wide angle shots.

Another feature on the "ZenFone Selfie" is the so-called 'natural light' flash.

"With the dual³ real tone flash, it's like having a personal spotlight⁴ everywhere I go, making sure I look good, naturally good."

Another highlight at this year's Computex event is the "Internet of Things".

Acer has unveiled its own "BYOC", or 'Build Your Own Cloud' technology.

The company says the technology will turn an average PC into a personal data center.

Lin Sumei is the Senior Manager of Acer's Internet of Things Division.

"The operational data for running household appliances, surveillance cameras or IP cameras through a wireless⁵ remote system can be saved in our Cloud. This will allow our clients or manufacturers to read and analyse the data from our Cloud storage and make improvements on their products."

US chip maker⁶ Intel is also promoting the 'Internet of Things' at this year's Computex.

Intel business development manager Jonathan Skeele says several industries, including agriculture, will benefit from the 'Internet of Things.'

"The fact that we can pull so much data from what's happening in either a green house or a farm, that could sample soil quality, it could be air quality, could be luminosity, all these different factors that affect the ability to increase the yield of different crops. So, cost saving is there, farmers can better predict what days make sense to water versus⁷ just having a set schedule."

This year's Computex is drawing thousands of visitors hoping to see the latest emerging technologies and gadgets⁸, including wearable devices, 3D printers and virtual mouse projectors⁹.

The event runs through Saturday.
