 From NPR news in Washington, I am Jack¹ Spear.The federal government has heed² General Motors with a 35-million-dollar fine for violating safety laws. The penalty was imposed of GM handling the recalled cars with faulty egnition switches. The fact has been linked to 13 death. NPR started to explain it's the largest fine the government composed.

Deneral motors has made its wrong doing in failing to inform the public about a problem of egnition switches, which is shemy co-bolts and several other cars. It's a problem that GM about it far back suit 2001, but didn't tell regulators or the public about it until this year. David Freedmen is a head of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The process was broken. They need to fix it. And that's exactly the goal on up to this concenter.

As a part of agreement, GM will set more oversight³ and reports to the government in ways that other automakers don't have to. This penalty doesn't end the civil lawsuit⁴ or any criminal or...
