  Voice 1
Welcome to Spotlight1. I'm Liz Waid.
Voice 2
And I'm Adam Navis. Spotlight uses a special English method of broadcasting. It is easier for people to understand, no matter where in the world they live.
Voice 1
Tattoos2, dancing bears, the human face, and lots of children. What do all these things have in common? They are all subjects of recent Spotlight programs! And listeners just like you have left their opinions and comments about these programs. In today's program, we will share your comments and questions. Let's get started!
Voice 2
Our first comment today comes from a listener who was very encouraged by one Spotlight program. The program was called "Dancing Bears." In this program we told about sloth3 bears. In some parts of India, people take these wild bears from their environment. They do terrible things to the bears, like pull out their teeth, and put a rope through the bear's nose. The bears train to dance in front of crowds of people.
Voice 1
But some organizations aim to rescue the bears. And they provide the bears with the things they need to survive in a new environment. One listener wrote with a wonderful comment. And it may even encourage you to action!
Voice 3
"I have a very good idea. We bear lovers4 could start a "Save the Dancing Bears Program." I searched for some good programs, but I could not find any. We people all around the world could probably stop dancing bears."
Voice 2
It is easy to see that you have a passion, or love for this subject! In the program "Dancing Bears" we told about a few rescue organizations. If you want to give money, you could give money to one of these. You can find a link to the organizations on the script5 page of this program. But, we hope you are able to use your passion for animals like bears in a helpful way!
Voice 1
Another program that people felt strongly about was called "Mother to Many." This program told about JoAnn Ballard. Many children in JoAnn's community did not have parents. So, JoAnn invited these children to live in her home as foster6 children. She became a foster mother to them. In all, JoAnn was a mother to over 75 children! One commenter, Egypt, wrote:
Voice 4
"To be a mother for many foster children is a holy and great thing. In fact, I hope to be so! If we imagine our lives with many communities, like these communities for fostering7 children, I think there would never be killers8 or victims of violence or even crimes."
Voice 2
This is an interesting idea, Egypt! If more people felt loved, would our communities have less violence? It is a good question. It is very important for any person to feel loved - especially a child. We also believe that it is a special job to foster children. May God bless you as you think about fostering children yourself. Thanks for your comments!
Voice 1
Our next comments today are about something EVERYONE can relate to. It is the human face! Recently we released9 a program called "The Human Face." In that program we discussed the expressions of the human face. These expressions are a kind of communication. Expressions are important because they connect us with other people. Many of our listeners saw how this information could be useful in their own lives! Humble71 wrote:
Voice 5
"I never thought about why the face needs to talk or to express what I am feeling to others. But I agree, when a person shows a natural face and a positive attitude he will have more job opportunities and more friends. I think I need to smile because I have forgotten to do it!"
Voice 1
Sinner said:
Voice 4
"Now I have to learn to control my facial expressions for improving the relationship with my family. This program is very helpful to my life."
Voice 1
And Rafael Angel had a similar idea! He wrote:
Voice 3
"This is a really interesting program! In fact, I will begin to "learn how to read" the faces of my relatives and friends, so I will know their feelings and help them when necessary... Actions, and human faces, say more than words."
Voice 2
We are happy this program could make people think about what they may be communicating - and how it can help them understand what other people are communicating!
Voice 1
One question we often get is also about communicating. Listeners wonder about becoming a part of a larger Spotlight community. For example, Georgina, from China wrote to us. She asked how she could make friends with other Spotlight listeners.
Voice 2
We have been working to connect our listeners in many different ways! If you would like to connect with other Spotlight listeners around the world, we hope one of these ways works10 for you. First, be sure to register11 for our website. Then you can comment on Spotlight programs. But you can also take part on our discussion12 page. There, listeners ask each other questions. Spotlight producers also sometimes visit this page. We ask questions about the programs. And it is a good place to practice writing and reading English with other English learners!
Voice 1
Another way to meet with other listeners around the world is through Facebook. Search Facebook for the two words "Spotlight Radio." You can become a part of our page by clicking "like." We send out updates about what programs are coming soon. And sometimes we send out other small updates on what we are doing.
Voice 2
Third, listeners can also follow us on Twitter. There, we send out a word of the day every day. Often this word will be connected to the day's program. You can find a link to our Facebook and Twitter pages on the script page of this program – "Listener Mail 104."
Voice 1
Finally, we also encourage Spotlight listeners to start a listening group in their own community! It can be a very simple gathering13. Gather a few people together. Listen to a Spotlight program. Then discuss it together using only English! It can be challenging to do this. But it can also be fun to learn together and share knowledge! If you do this, be sure to share your experiences on our discussion page or Facebook. We would love to hear from you!
Voice 2
That is all we have time for today. Thank you for sharing your opinions and questions with us! You can also share your comments and questions with us through email at radio @ english . net.
