But first, six years ago, Iranian exile Hamid Ghassemi-Shall left his wife Antonella at home in Canada and went off to visit his sick mother in Tehran. It was five years of hard campaigning before Antonella saw him again. Much of that time he'd been in Iran's notorious Evin prison in solitary¹ confinement² and facing imminent³ execution over claims that he'd helped his older brother Alborz to spy for a dissident group.
