　　What will Mrs. Grundy say?

　　人家会怎么议论呢？

　　Mrs. Grundy 格兰迪夫人，源自美国剧作家托马斯·摩顿的戏剧《加快犁的速度》中的人物，她是一个极其古板的人。后来人们就用Mrs. Grundy来比喻那些“过分重规矩的人，拘泥礼节的人”。What will Mrs. Grundy say? 直译过来就是：“格兰迪夫人会怎么样说呢？”，这个短语的正确意思是：“人家会怎么议论呢？”。因此，当美国人说"What will Mrs. Grundy say?"时，他/她要表达的意思就是:"How will others talk about it?"、"What will other people think about it?"。
