LONDON, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The iconic British brand Burberry released its 2013 autumn and winter collection at the Kensington Gardens in royal park Monday afternoon.
Although the palette remained oxblood, camel, black and white, the tradition check pattern was missing, while heart-print added some love stories into the collection.
Animal print was the main theme of this season, with camel lap given an animalistic twist with leopard1, and black-and-white zebra print juxtaposed with traditional design.
When the sun light fell upon the models through glass ceiling, it gave on-lookers a sense of returning to the nature.
The designers also played with fabrics2, mixing mink3 and calfskin with see-through rubber, or cashmere with plastic leather.
Burberry, established in 1856, is among the most classic brands in Britain. "We want to mix something a little subversive4, a little bit naughty, a little bit sexy," said Christopher Bailey, Burberry's Chief Creative Officer.
Talking with Xinhua, he noted5 that China is an important market for them. "We have already have a big presence in China," he said. "We gonna be out to Shanghai this year. We gonna do something fun there."
The catwalk show attracted lots of audiences, among whom are some celebrities6 from China, like famous actress Zhao Wei, fashion plate Han Huohuo and Aimee Sun, cover figure in Taiwan.
"I think the distance between catwalk and our wardrobe is being shortened," Zhao Wei told Xinhua after the show. "In the past we used to believe that the clothes on models are out of reach for ordinary people."
She said she loved the windbreakers from Burberry. "They are so classic," she said.
Sun who has her own brand loved the heart print and the use of transparent7 material. "This is a novel idea," she said. "It is great to add so many novel ideas into a classic brand, which makes it more interesting."
