 　　You could be an early riser; you could be a late riser. 你可以当一个早起的人，也可以当一个晚起的人。

　　The word riser comes from the verb¹ to rise, "rise," which, in this case, means² to get up. 起床者这个单词来源于动词上升，“rise”在这里是指起床。

　　Well, "I'm not really an early riser," I say, "so I don't jump out of bed." 我说“我并不是早起型的人，所以我不会跳下床”。

　　To jump out of bed means to get out of bed very quickly. 跳下床是指快速起床。

　　"I don't jump out of bed ready to take on the world" “我不会跳下床准备好迎接新的一天”。

　　"To take on the world" means I'm ready for the day. “To take on the world”意思是准备好新的一天。

　　It's an expression³ we use to say that I am ready to go out into the world and do my best. 这个表达是说我们准备好尽全力开始生活。

　　"I'm not an early riser, I don't jump out of bed ready to take on the world?" “我并不是早起型的人，所以我不会跳下床准备好迎接新的一天”。

　　Instead, "I get up very slowly, usually one foot on the floor at a time." 相反，“我起床很缓慢，通常一只脚一只脚地下地”。

　　So first, I get up and I put one foot on the floor and then another foot on the floor, and then I stand up. 所以，我先坐起来，把一只脚放到地上，再把另一只脚放到地上，然后我再站起来。

　　"Every once in awhile," I say, "I'll oversleep" To oversleep, "oversleep," (one word) means that you sleep later than you should. 我说“我时不时还会睡过头”。睡过头，“oversleep”（一个单词）是指你的睡眠时间超过了你应该睡的时间。

　　For example, you are wanting to get up at seven o'clock in the morning and you sleep until 7:30. 比如，你想在七点起床，但你睡到了七点半。

　　You don't realize that you are sleeping too late; we call that oversleeping. 而你不知道自己睡晚了，我们把这称为睡过头。

　　To oversleep means that you sleep longer than you wanted to. 睡过头是指你睡的时间比你计划的长。

　　At the end of the story I say, "I really love the weekends," Fridays and Saturdays, "when I can sleep in." 故事结尾时我说“我很喜欢周末”，周五和周六，“那时候可以睡懒觉”。

　　To sleep in means that you don't get up at your normal time; you sleep longer than you normally⁴ do. 睡懒觉是指你不用在平时的时间起床；你比平时睡的时间更长。

　　So, if you normally get up at seven, on Saturday or Sunday if you don't work, you may sleep in until nine a.m. 如果你平时七点起床，周六周日不用上班的时候你可以睡到九点。
