 　　Peace is an interest because, in an atmosphere of just peace,

　　和平是我们的利益所在：

　　the Palestinian people will be able to achieve their ambitions for independence and sovereignty,

　　因为只有在公正和平的氛围中，巴勒斯坦人民才能实现其国家独立和恢复主权的正当愿望，

　　to develop their national and cultural existence through relations of good neighborliness,

　　mutual¹ respect, and cooperation with the Israeli people.

　　Peace will enable the Israeli people to define their Middle East identity and to enjoy economic

　　As war is an adventure, peace is also a challenge and a gamble.

　　If we do not fortify² peace to stand against storms and wind, and if we do not support it and strengthen it,

　　如果我们运用各种手段，也没有使和平经受住风暴中的动乱，

　　the gamble will then be exposed to blackmail³, perhaps to fall.

　　如果我们没有维护好和平，这种冒险就会升级。

　　Therefore, I call on my partners in peace on this high platform to expedite the peace process,

　　因此，在这里我呼吁我的同伴们加快推进和平进程，

　　achieve early withdrawal⁴, pave the road for elections,

　　早日实现裁军，以便选举能够顺利进行，快速进入和平进程的下一阶段。

　　and to move to the second stage in record time, so that peace will grow and become a firm reality.
