In Paris the Eiffel Tower went dark Thursday night honoring the victims of yesterday’s deadly attack on a satirical newspaper. Meanwhile French authorities are conducting a massive search for the two brothers suspected of carrying out the shooting, 12 people were killed.

Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer¹ of California said she will not seek reelection in 2016 to a fifth term in office. The 74-year-old made the announcement in a video with her grandson. Boxer was first elected to the house in 1982.

Around the US, dangerously cold airs are sending temperatures down to the single digits². Wind chills are driving them even lower. In New York City temperatures are expected to drop to 7 degrees.

A kitten is safe after it was found in the hood³ of a car. Workers at a Lexus dealership⁴ in Texas rescued the kitten after they heard her meowing. Since then she’s found a new home with one of the car dealership employees.
