 Henry Black and Ned Bell live near our house.  亨利·布莱克和内德·贝尔住在我们家附近。

They go to school, and I see them go by each day with their books andslates. 他们在上学，我看到他们每天带着书和画板去上学。

Miss May tells the girls and boys that they should be at the schoolhouse when the bell rings.  梅小姐告诉女孩和男孩们，他们应该在上课铃声响时都已到达学校。

The quail is too quick a bird for that, and Ned did⁵ not hurt it; 鹌鹑是一种非常敏捷的鸟，内德没能伤到它。

but I know that a good child would⁶ not try to kill a bird. 但我认为，一个好孩子绝不会想把鸟弄死的
