DAVID GREENE, HOST:
This story falls in the category of things only one of us in this studio would eat.
RACHEL MARTIN, HOST:
Right. It's not happening.
GREENE: I mean, I would do it, although, I admit it's kind of gross. Though, if you're at the ballpark in Atlanta watching the Atlanta Braves game and you can't decide if you want a burger or a hot dog or maybe chicken tenders, this could really help you out. Here's WABE Summer Evans.
SUMMER EVANS, BYLINE1: The Atlanta Braves are known for some key baseball staples2. For instance, you got the legendary3 right fielder Hank Aaron, the traditional chant at every game...
(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)
EVANS: ...And now a notable concession4 stand item - the Blooper Burger.
PETE SMITHING: The Blooper Burger is four all-beef patties, cheeseburger - so American cheese.
EVANS: That's chef Pete Smithing, the guy behind this monstrous5 burger. It honors the Braves' furry6, big-eared mascot7 Blooper. But those four hamburger patties are just the start.
SMITHING: Then we do a footlong hot dog, and then we do four chicken tenders. We top that with nacho cheese and then tater tots and jalapenos.
EVANS: That's all inside two long pieces of buttered Texas toast. Oh, and I almost forgot a few things.
SMITHING: And lettuce8, tomato and onion.
EVANS: You got to have the veggies in there.
SMITHING: Yes.
EVANS: But don't worry. If you still have a hankering for something sweet, the burger comes with red-and-blue caramel popcorn9 on either side. T.J. Edness is a concession stand worker who serves between 60 and 80 Blooper Burgers a game. But can you believe he's never had one?
T J EDNESS: When customers come, they ask me, have I had it? How do I like it? I’m like, honestly, I don’t know 'cause it’s kind of intimidating10
EVANS: So he decided11 to give it a shot.
EDNESS: Wow. This is really good. Those tastes really complement12 each other, honestly. If I don't like something, I'm going to tell you.
EVANS: And this calorie-packed goodness comes at the low, low price of $26. For NPR News, I'm Summer Evans.
