In a twinkling, he jumped down from his bed to look on the chair standing¹ near. 他连忙跳下床，看见床边的椅子

There, he found a new suit, a new hat, and a pair of shoes. 已经放着一套漂亮的新衣服、一顶新帽子和一双鞋子。

As soon as he was dressed, he put his hands in his pockets and pulled out a little leather purse on which were written the following words: 他一穿上衣服，手插进口袋，却掏出了一个小小的皮革钱包。钱包上写着这些话：

The Fairy with Azure² Hair returns fifty pennies to her dear Pinocchio with many thanks for his kind heart. “天蓝色头发的仙女还给她亲爱的皮诺乔五十美分以感谢他的好心。”

The Marionette³ opened the purse to find the money, and behold—there were fifty gold coins! 木偶打开钱包一看，里面装着五十个金币！

Pinocchio ran to the mirror. He hardly recognized himself. 皮诺乔跑去照镜子，差点认不出自己来。

The bright face of a tall boy looked at him with wide-awake blue eyes, dark brown hair and happy, smiling lips. 一个容光焕发的高个子男孩用大睁着的蓝眼睛看着自己，头发是深棕色的，快乐的笑着。

Surrounded by so much splendor⁴, the Marionette hardly knew what he was doing. 周围奇怪的事接二连三，木偶已经给搞糊涂了。

He rubbed his eyes two or three times, wondering if he were still asleep or awake and decided⁵ he must be awake. 他擦了两三回眼睛，怀疑自己到底是梦是醒，最后发现自己是醒着的。

"And where is Father?" he cried suddenly. “我的爸爸呢？”他忽然叫起来。

He ran into the next room, and there stood Geppetto, 他冲进旁边的房间，看见杰佩托站在哪儿，
