 　　The University of Oxford¹ has a world wide reputation for its high quality and diverse research.

　　In the 2008 Research Assessment² Exercise (RAE 2008), Oxford submitted the largest number of research from a total of 48 fields,在2008年的研究评估考核中，牛津大学提交了数量最多的研究成果。这些研究总共来自48个领域，among which 32% was rated 4* (world leading), and 70% was rated either 4* or 3* (world leading or internationally excellent).

　　That is to say, the University was judged to have the largest submission³ of world leading research in the UK, and the largest submission of world-leading or internationally excellent research in the UK.

　　As such, Oxford received the highest amount of quality rated research funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) of any UK university —nearly ￡119 million.

　　The RAE was a UK-wide assessment exercise run on behalf of the four UK higher education funding bodies.
