 January 10th, 1776. Thomas Paine publishes Common Sense, one of the most influential¹ works of the American Revolution. The pamphlet urges freedom for Britain’s colonies in America just months before the Declaration of Independence. 1863. All aboard, but mind the gap as the world’s first underground passenger railway opens in London. It remains² one of the largest to this day. 1964. Well, shake it up, baby, now (Shake it up, baby).
