At least 19 Palestinians, including three civilians², were killed in the deadliest day of fighting in months. Nearly 50 people were also wounded and an Ecuadorian civilian¹ working on the Israeli side of the Gaza border was killed by a Palestinian sniper. Violence began when Israeli armored vehicles and helicopters entered northern Gaza and exchanged fire with Palestinian gunmen.
