Receptionist: I'm a receptionist in a hotel. We get a lot of calls for reservations¹ each day. Many customers call us to reserve rooms ahead of time in order to have nice view rooms. Some just want to know if there is a bar in the hotel. You know people like different things. I like my job.

 Waitress: Good morning. Morre Hotel. At your service.

 

Benjamin: good morning! I'd like to make a reservation², please. Do you have any rooms available for the next week?

 

Waitress: All right. Single-room or double-room?

 

Benjamin: Double-room, please. It's for an American couple.

 

Waitress: Hold on, please. Let me check the bookings. Yes, we have double-rooms available. What kind of room would you like, sir?

 

Benjamin: I'd like a room with a nice view, please.

 

Waitress: We have a nice garden-view room.

Benjamin: Party all night? Hotel California? No kidding. Anyway, what's the room charge?

 

Waitress: 888 Yuan per night. With breakfast. “Northern Star” buffet³! What's there arriving time?

 

Benjamin: They turn up around 4p.m. next Monday, and they check out on next Sunday.
