The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has held a nearly two hours of talks with President Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Mr. Tillerson called the discussions productive but he said the world's two foremost nuclear powers could not have such a poor relationship as they currently do. Syria was top of the agenda. Mr. Lavrov said he had yet to see evidence of Syrian government involvement in the alleged¹ chemical attack that provoked a US missile strike on a Syrian air base. The Russian Foreign Minister said he did also ask for but had not been given evidence to substantiate² allegations of Russian cyber interference in the US elections.
