Thembi wears her scar as a blemish² on the conscience of a country struggling with gender³ violence. Women themselves have taken to the streets to raise the problem. We normalize it. And I think we kept quiet so long that it got to a stage whereby it's uncontrollable. So staying in, if you're just going to die. You're not going to stay in there being abused every day and survive. It's either you physically⁴ die, or you emotionally die.
