Chad says its army has killed one of the most senior Islamist militants² in North Africa Mokhtar Belmokhtar. Moktar Belmoktar was at one point a leading figure in the North African militant¹ group Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. Tomas Fessy reports

Chadian troops have totally destroyed the main Jihadist base, General Gobongue said, in the mountain’s border in Algeria. He said several other fighters were killed in the attack while dozens of vehicles, weapons and equipments were seized. Mokhtar Belmokhtar claimed responsibility for the attack on a gas facility earlier this year in which foreign workers have been killed.

The governor of Oruzgan province said Australian soldiers had killed them by mistake. At least 20 people have been injured in Macedonia when police clashed with members of the country’s ethnic¹⁴ Albanian minority in the capital Skopje. Police in Brazil are investigating the appearance of two alleged¹⁸ human skulls¹⁹ in the center of San Paulo. One of them was left in Avenida Paulista buidling - one of the most expensive addresses in the Brazilian financial capital. CCTV images reported show a woman placing the scull by the front door and leaving. The other scull was left in a bag a week ago next to a building designed by Brazil's most famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. Investigors have yet to established any connection between the two cases.
