　　For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of vitamins, dieting and a dozen other maladies. Now I found out the real reason. I'm tired because I'm overworked.

　　好几年了，我一直认为自己总是感到疲劳是由于缺乏维生素、节食和一大堆病的缘故。现在我终于把真实的原因搞明白了——我累是因为我工作过度了。

　　The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired¹. That leaves 133 million to do the work.

　　这个国家一共有两亿三千七百万的人口，其中有一亿零四百万的人退休了，这样就剩下一亿三千三百万人工作了。

　　There are 85 million in school, which leave 48 million to do the work.

　　Of this, there are 29 million employed by the federal government. This leaves 19 million to do the work.

　　Four million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work.

　　Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work.

　　There are 188,000 in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work.

　　Now, there are 11,988 people in Prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work.

　　No wonder I'm tired; I'm doing ALL of the work myself!

　　1. blame on

　　eg. She'll put the blame on us if it turns out badly.

　　2. lack of

　　3. find out

　　（尤指特意通过努力）发现，找出，查明；

　　eg. It makes you want to watch the next episode² to find out what's going to happen.

　　这让人想要看下一集，弄清紧接着会发生什么事。

　　eg. Yesterday, the men's families held a news conference in their campaign to find out the truth.

　　昨天，这些男子的家人举行了记者招待会，以发起查明真相的运动。

　　4. no wonder

　　难怪；怪不得；不足为怪；

　　eg. No wonder my brother wasn't feeling well.

　　难怪我兄弟感觉不舒服了。

　　eg. He had made a thorough³ investigation⁴. No wonder he knew so much about it.

　　他对此事做了彻底的调查，怪不得他了解得那么多。

1 retired   

adj.隐退的，退休的，退役的
