教师是否应该接受学生或家长的礼物？

 　　今天是一年一度的教师节，教师是天底下最光辉的职业，他们扮演着教书育人的重要角色。而许多家长也正在为孩子向老师送什么礼物而头疼。那么，教师是否应该接受学生或家长的礼物呢？不同国家的人们持有不同的看法。

　　Ave (UK): I find the concept of Teachers' Day a bit odd actually. It is not something that happens in the UKas far as I know. In the UK, acceptance of gifts by teachers is strictly¹ prohibited, especially gifts that have been purchased or giving cash as gift.

　　Seneca (expat in China): I think gifts given to teachers are not the ideal way of showing a form of deference⁵; it would be much better if teachers were treated with the respect they deserve throughout the whole year. If a Teachers' Day is needed it should be held in a uniform manner,possibly as a national holiday.
