Sydney is the 34th most expensive city in the world, according to the latest research -- a global index of luxury home prices compiled by London-based Knight¹ Frank.

For visitors, Sydney hotel prices rose 16 percent in the last year, reported the Sydney Morning Herald². The average hotel price in Sydney is now $168 per night –-  $20 more than the average hotel price in Melbourne.

They will now pay more, as the Australian dollar reached another record high today, peaking at 104.82 US cents, reported ABC.
