A ruptured2 gas pipeline3 has caused an explosion in the city of Wenzhou in eastern Zhejiang province. Three people, the operator of a construction vehicle on the scene, one taxi driver and one passenger near the scene, are reported to be injured.
A witness who posted pictures of the explosion online, says it happened when a construction team working in the area ruptured an underground gas pipeline. The construction vehicle involved was caught in the flames.
According to the local fire department, 3 fire brigades were deployed4, but traffic signals nearby had already been burned before they could seal off the rupture1 and extinguish the fire.
