At least four people have been reported dead, and 100 others injured, after a magnitude-6.7 earthquake struck near the city of Imphal in northeast India, close to its border with Myanmar.
There have been reports of serious damage to properties in the state of Manipur. Local residents say people fled their homes and power was down across Imphal. The quake was felt across northeastern and eastern India.
People in Bangladesh and Nepal ran from their homes. The quake was felt as far away as the Myanmar capital Yangon, nearly 1,200 kilometers to the south.
It was also felt in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. No casualties have been reported there.
