African countries had always been important players on the map of China's foreign policy. From the Belt and Road initiative to China's investment and aid plans, African countries are never left out. How do African people see China's undertakings in their countries? What has changed or is changing in African countries because of the efforts of China? We now turn to our Nairobi studio for insight.
China has several megaprojects running in Kenya alone. That includes the Thika Super Highway in Nairobi. The Standard Gauge Railway on the coast. And the new Greenfield terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport are just some of them.
Statistics show China is the leading financier of large-scale infrastructure projects in Africa. But it's not just about the money - it's about teaching skills to locals - something that's sorely needed.
"They are very fast, something else, they delegate, so you can learn and even if they leave, you remain with the skill," Peter Ndungu, site engineer with Outer Ring Road Project, said.
China is Africa's biggest trade partner. And although some says the imports exports numbers are skewed - it's been improving for Africa.
But putting the economy aside for now - the growth of Chinese traditions and culture has also been impressive.

From education, to healthcare…and of course culture
And it's not just here in East Africa. China's influence is growing in West, North, and Southern Africa too. That became evident at the recent Forum on China Africa Cooperation held in Johannesburg. And with the multi-billion dollar plan for Africa, China's influence and assistance are be assured.
