CCTV9英语新闻：Irish people parade green Chinese dragon in Shanghai

It's time for Irish people everywhere to celebrate the country's patron saint, Patrick, and TO 'wear the green'. 'Saint Paddy's Day' falls on Thursday, but people in Shanghai are already in festive mood.

 

Saturday's event started with a parade around the Kerry Center, with a crowd of green bringing traditional Irish music and even a green Chinese dragon. They stopped at a square, where cultural performances were presented. The festive atmosphere impressed people of all cultures.

 

We rarely see so much green in Shanghai. Irish people are enthusiastic and present many performances. And luckily, I am also wearing green today.

 

By decorating the city with green, the Irish use the occasion as a platform for cultural exchange with Chinese people.

 

Saturday's event also marked the start of the week-long Irish festival in Shanghai. Over the week, residents can enjoy a series of cultural eventS in town, including a taste of Irish cuisine at bars and restaurants, as well as some free performances.
