The 2016 Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia will be held in south China's Hainan Province from Tuesday to Friday. The forum has become a high-end platform for dialogues between government leaders, industrial and business elites from Asia and beyond. CCTV has interviewed the Forum's secretary general for his expectations for this year's event.
This year's theme for the forum is "Asia's New future: New dynamics, New vision".
Zhou Wenzhong said in the context of fundamental changes in the world economy, this year's forum is aimed at promoting discussion on how Asian economies will steer economic restructuring, and how else to develop new sources of growth for the world economy.
"For many Asian countries, the economy is still growing, but at a slower pace. And it is facing more and more challenges. So we want to use this forum as a platform to discuss this common problem we are facing. There will be about 2 thousand delegates and over 300 speakers. We will find the problems together and seek Asia's new future," Zhou said.
Zhou said innovation is another major topic.
A total of 12 entrepreneur dialogues have been arranged, focusing on frontier technologies, internet plus and emerging industries.
"Innovation development is one of our focus areas. Innovation is an important development strategy for many countries. Asia's economic growth is still high in world levels, but how to maintain the momentum or even move forward is a big challenge for the whole region," Zhou said.
Zhou also emphasizes the importance of people in promoting Asia's new dynamics.
"We need to motivate the enthusiasm of people. Asia is rich in human resources. But how to make full use of this resources? I think it is a challenge for Asia. First is employment, then is to ensure people can make the best of their talents on the basis of general employment," Zhou said.
