Though the El Nino phenomenon is now in decline, its effects can still be felt across China. The result? People across the country are having very different Spring weather experiences.  While tourists in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao are basking in the glorious sunshine, others in south China's Guangxi and Guangdong, and east China's Zhejiang province, are still being pounded by rain.

It took one hour for a street in Dushan county of Guizhou to be submerged.

"It is by far the largest rainstorm this year with egg-sized hail stones," Resident from Dushan County of Guixi province said.

"I haven't seen such heavy rainfall in the past decades," Resident from Dushan County of Guixi province said.

The downpours created water logging, that caused traffic jams in the county's central district, and widespread power outages.

The situation was not much better in neighbouring regions.

Authorities in Jiangxi warned residents to reduce outdoor activities, amid straight-line winds and hail.

And in Yongfu county in Guangxi, rising water levels forced drivers to abandon cars. Some of the unlucky dropped their possessions...that they are unlikely to find again.

China's meteorological authority puts the unseasonal weather down to the strongest El Nino phenomenon in 17 years.

Farmlands in low lying areas of central China's Hunan province have also been damaged.

"All of my 30 tons of strawberries were destroyed," Farmer from Lengshuijiang of Hunan province said.

On Saturday, landslides in Loudi city trapped nearly 50 villagers. Rescuers had to remove heavy rocks, before taking the residents out to a safe location.

Elsewhere in the country, it's a different picture altogether. In Beijing, Spring has very much arrived with the clear skies and garden blossoms attracting flocks of tourists.

And over in southwest Yunnan, it now feels like summertime, with temperatures hitting over 38 degree Celsius on Saturday.

Meanwhile, parts of Qinghai in northwest China, are still blanketed by white snow, after temperatures dropped to around minus ten degree Celsius over the past week.

Animals in fields can't forage for food, and police had to strengthen patrols on road sections.

It seems like Spring this year in China is made up of three seasons.
