After successfully finishing eight programs by April 13, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull attended a gala lunch in Shanghai and brought exchanges between the two nations to a conclusion.

On his last day in Shanghai, Turnbull attended the gala lunch of AWIC, hosted by the Australian Government and Australian Trading Commission. Here he delivered the closing speech.

This nearly 1,000 strong trade delegation mission is a result of the signing of the China Australia Free Trade agreement in 2015.

"I am honored to be the first Australian prime minister to visit China since this trans-formative agreement came to force only months ago. But we have to work harder, much harder, to strengthen and expand these business links, as our economies continue to transition,"

"That’s why we have to extend our innovation agenda, to help Australian start-ups and leading research organizations link to the world. To do this, we are establishing a landing pad here in Shanghai, which will provide innovative entrepreneurs with physical space and access to networks and expertise," said Malcolm Turnbull.

China is Australia's largest source of imports, biggest trading partner and export market, and now the biggest overseas financial investment country.

“Guoao North focuses on the modern organic food industry. We have a long-time cooperation with Australia in farming and animal husbandry, regarding the construction of pasture and technology transfers,” said Jiao Yongtao, Chairman of Guoao North Investment and Development Co Ltd.

“This time, we have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The first phase of investment is worth 100 million RMB, and the three-year total reaches 500 million RMB.”

On the other hand, increasing amounts of capital is being made available for high return rate investment projects in China and the rest of Asia as well.

“We’re also interested in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, because Australia also, as a big country but with fewer people, has relevant experience with infrastructure development,” said Mark Johnson, Senior Advisor of Gresham Investment House.

“For example, Australia has a lot of land for food supply, but to do that requires the transport system, the ports, the roads, the ships, the loading facilities and so on. That is an integrated infrastructure project to deal with food.”

After four days of program seminars, visits to 12 cities, and more than 150 rounds of on-site communications, this business commission is expecting a closer relationship between the two giant financial entities that brings more effective and expansive cooperation.
