Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with young scientists and entrepreuners on a visit to east China's Anhui province. He called on them to shoulder the responsibility of building the future, and work hard to realize Chinese dream.
Wang Zhiguo is discussing aircraft carrier designs with his fellow researchers. Just 38-years-old, he's the deputy chief engineer for special devices on aircraft carriers, leading a young team. He was deeply impressed by the meeting with the Chinese President.
"President Xi said opportunities are for those who are prepared. And as young people, we realize that the Chinese Dream can be realized if we make use of all the knowledge we acquire, and use them to develop the newest and best products," he said.
Luo Lingfei, a professor at Southwest University, took away new-found motivation.
Luo is the youngest chief scientist on Program 973, a national research program looking to gain the technological and strategic edge in various scientific fields.
He says scientific innovation is an important path for China.
"President Xi delivered a sense of confidence in the nation. As a educator, I want to pass this kind of confidence to people, and lead more young students down the path of innovation," he said.
Liu Yi's company ActBlue focuses on vehicle emission treatment. Young entrepreneurs like him were inspired by President's Xi's encouragement of innovation.
"Many of his words touched our hearts. To realize our own dreams and the Chinese dream won't be easy. We must persist and work hard, and blend in with the development of our nation, and realize our value of life. I think this is the opportunity and responsibility that this era gives to our generation," he said.
