Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Canada and has met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his counterpart Stephane Dion in Ottawa.
The two sides vowed to expand cooperation in trade, nuclear energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and innovation. Trudeau said he is looking forward to attending the upcoming G20 summit in China.

In a press conference after the meeting, Wang responded to the remarks made by incoming Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, that he was willing to engage China in bilateral talks on the South China Sea issue. Wang reaffirmed that China is always open for a dialogue with the Philippines.
Wang said direct dialogue and consultations will help break a deadlock in bilateral relations, and will be good for maintaining peace and stability in the region. He said China is willing to see Philippine authorities make wise choices.
