The proposal from the Food and Drug Administration would ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors¹ and add health warning labels to the popular nicotine² devices.

These proposals won't do anything immediately, but the agency is hoping to set foundations for regulating the products that so far carry no restrictions³.

E-cigarettes are plastic or metal tubes, about the size of a traditional cigarette, that heat liquid nicotine instead of burning tobacco. That vapor⁴ created is inhaled⁵, giving smokers⁶ nicotine without the chemicals used in cigarettes.
