We often hear about the “generation gap” that occursbetween parents and children when it comes to music, morals, fashion and a host of other things. Now there is a generationlap, the tendency for young people to be increasingly moretechnically savvy1 than their parents or elders. This gap exists inthe use of technology where the young generation has becomethe authority, effectively flipping2 the typical parental3 andprofessional hierarchy4 on its head in many respects.
The implications are huge. Family members begin to respect each other for what their authoritiesactually are. This insight can be extended to social institutions, as well. For example, in Finland5,000 N-Geners have been chosen to train the country's teachers in computers. For the first timeever, the students will be the teachers and the teachers will be the students.
