The European Central Bank appears poised2 to offer more stimulus for the struggling Eurozone economy.
But any decision will only be made after the ECB assesses the impact of sharply lower oil prices.
European Central Bank president Mario Draghi.
"Should it become necessary to further address risks of too prolonged a period of low inflation, the Governing Council remains3 unanimous in its commitment to using additional unconventional instruments within its mandate4. We discussed broadly all sorts of measures; we certainly discussed various options of QE. "
Meanwhile, ECB has left its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 0.05 percent.
ECB is also planning to assess the impact of its ultra-low interest rates, cheap loans given to banks and the buying of repackaged loans in an attempt to kick-start lending.
