In Tootsie Dustin Hoffman plays a down and lost actor who dresses up as a woman until to land a role on the soap opera. “Don’t work and don’t work. Don’t play hard again.” The Movie came out in 1982 and was a huge hit. I’d like to make a little attractive how far can you pull back? How do you think about Cleves? Despite all the jokes in the film on his character be more than a naught¹ than a hotty. Hoffman in a newly arrival and bracingly honest interview he said he was initially² shocked when he did screen test when he look how he looked in drag. I would be a woman and I want to be as beautiful as possible. And they said to me that’s a goods as cats. In that moment he says he has a painferny. I run women start crying and talking to my wife. And I said I had to made this picture and she said why? And I said I looked myself on screen and I know if I met myself at a party I would never talk to that character because she doesn’t fulfill³ physically⁴ the demands that we are brought up to think… we have the women who have to have in order to ask them out. She is what she’s saying… and I have to say there are too many interesting women I have to not have the experience to know in this life. Because I have been brain washed. And that was never comedy for me.
