She was going in and out of consciousness in the ER, trying to describe what happened:

(Sledge¹) "All she could remember was that it was a sow and two cubs²."

That bear attacked the woman, a military wife who wants to remain anonymous³, Sunday morning while she was out jogging at Anchorage's Joint⁴ Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Slashed⁵ and bloodied⁶, she managed to get up and walk two miles to a road where a driver spotted⁷ her and called for help. Alaska Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Mark Sledge:

(Sledge) "The survival instinct for that woman is phenomenal. The trauma⁸ that she went through and then the walk out was heroic."

She's said to be in stable condition.
