An explosive wildfire in northern California has scorched¹ several homes. The fire is burning around Redding. Thousands have been forced to flee.

In Greece, the Prime Minister visited the site of the country's deadliest wildfire in decades. The blaze raced through a seaside area northeast of Athens earlier this month.

Zimbabwe's former leader Robert Mugabe voted in the country's first election without his name on the ballot². The 94-year-old stepped down in November under military pressure. He said he will be voting for the opposition³ leader and not the ruling party he once controlled.

Hundreds of climbers in Indonesia are making their way to safer ground after a deadly earthquake. The 6.4 quake set off landslides⁴ on an island, which is home to an active volcano.
