President Donald Trump¹ said he will lift sanctions on Turkey after the NATO ally agreed to permanently² stop fighting Kurdish forces in Syria and he defended his decision to withdraw American troops, saying the U.S. should not be the world's policeman.

A judge has directed the State Department to begin producing within 30 days documents related to the Trump administration's dealings with Ukraine. The records are sought under a freedom of information act request by American Oversight³, an ethics⁴ watchdog that investigates the Trump administration.

Authorities on Wednesday found 39 people dead in a truck in an industrial park in England and arrested the driver on suspicion of murder in one of Britain's worst human-smuggling tragedies. Police were reconstructing the final journey of the victims as they tried to piece together where they were from and how they came to be in England.
