House Democrats² have scheduled public hearings for next week in the impeachment³ inquiry⁴ of President Donald Trump⁵. More transcripts⁶ are being released. Among those scheduled to testify are top Ukraine diplomat⁷ William Taylor and former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovich.

One day after voters in Kentucky went to the polls, just over 5300 votes separates the two candidates, Democrat¹ Andy Beshear and Republican incumbent⁸ Matt Bevin. Bevin is seeking a recanvass, while Beshear has claimed victory and begun to focus on the transition.

Anti-government protesters clashed with Iraqi security forces in Bagdad Wednesday as unrest in the country continues. Protesters are focusing much of their anger on Shiite political parties and militias⁹, many of which have close ties to Iran.

Sheriff's deputies in northern California helped a dumpster-diving bear get out of a tough situation. The bear got itself stuck inside a trash bin¹⁰ before one of the deputies flipped¹¹ open one of the doors, so the bear could climb out and get back to the wild.
