　　According to a news report, a certain private school recently was faced with a unique problem.

　　根据一篇新闻报道，一个私立学校最近正面临着一个独特的问题。

　　A number of girls were beginning to use lipstick¹ and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

　　有一些女生开始化妆了，她们在洗手间里涂口红。这件事本来没什么问题，可问题是，她们抹完口红后都会在镜子上印上自己的唇印，每天镜子上都会留下几十个。

　　Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day, the girls would put them back.

　　保洁员每天晚上都会把镜子擦干净，可是，第二天早上，姑娘们又会留下新的唇印。

　　Finally the principal decided² that something had to be done.

　　终于，校长决定做点什么来改变这种状况。

　　She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian³ who had to clean the mirrors every night.

　　她把姑娘们都叫到洗手间，把每天晚上擦洗镜子的保洁员介绍给她们。她说她们留在镜子上的唇印给保洁员的打扫工作带来很多麻烦。

　　To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.

　　He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.

　　Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
